North Bay, ON — The Canadore College Panthers men's volleyball team delivered a dominant weekend performance, sweeping Centennial College in straight sets on Saturday (25–13, 25–15, 25–17) before earning a gritty four-set victory over George Brown College on Sunday (26–24, 23–25, 25–23, 25–19).
The Panthers showcased their balance, efficiency, and teamwork across both matches, improving their early-season record and continuing to build momentum in OCAA competition.
In Saturday's match at Centennial's Progress AWC, Kahled Bryant led the charge with an outstanding .750 hitting percentage, recording 9 kills on 12 attempts without a single error. Sean Malherbe was equally impressive with 9 kills, 2 service aces, and 4 block assists for a match-high 15 points. Mason Begg added 11 points, including 5 kills, 2 aces, and a strong 4 blocks. Setter Spencer Corston distributed 21 assists and chipped in a service ace as Canadore cruised to a 3–0 sweep.
The Panthers continued their strong play on Sunday at George Brown's St. James Campus, where they battled through four sets to earn a 3–1 victory. Malherbe once again led the attack with 15 kills and 18 total points, while Begg and Konrad Siedlec added 10 and 11 points respectively. Setter Corston had a standout performance, posting an impressive 30 assists, guiding Canadore's offense to a .267 team hitting percentage.
Canadore's defensive consistency was on full display throughout the weekend, anchored by Ethan Israelstam and Corston, who combined for 14 digs in the George Brown match. The Panthers also showed strength at the net, totaling 12 team blocks over the two-game stretch.
Head Coach Mark Hopper praised his team's effort and composure:
"We're starting to find our rhythm offensively, and our blocking and serving really set the tone this weekend," he said. "Back-to-back road wins against tough opponents are a great sign of where this group is heading."
Canadore returns home this weekend looking to build on their road performance against Georgian College on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
