Panthers Fight Hard but Fall Short in Weekend Matches

Oshawa, ON – The Canadore Panthers women's volleyball team faced a challenging weekend on the road, falling 3-0 to Durham on November 23. Panthers were able to bounce back winning 3-0 to Fleming on November 24.

Canadore vs. Durham (November 23, 2024) - 0-3 Loss
The Panthers' match against Durham College saw them struggle to keep up with a strong and consistent Durham team. The set scores were 25-18, 25-17, and 25-19. Although the Panthers displayed moments of brilliance, especially in their defense, they were outpaced by Durham's potent offense and tight serve receive.

Key Performances for the Panthers:

  • Elise Churman led the offense with 13 kills and 4 digs, hitting a solid .344. Her all-around play kept the Panthers in the match.
  • Kassidy Dyer was effective at the net with 3 kills on 14 attempts, but Durham's defense kept her from having a more significant impact.
  • Reece Sommerfeld added 2 kills and 17 assists, keeping the offense moving but was often under pressure from Durham's blockers.

The following day, the Panthers faced Fleming College and rebounded with a dominant performance, sweeping the Fleming in straight sets with scores of 25-21, 25-14, and 25-20.
