North Bay, ON – The Canadore Panthers men's basketball team showcased both resilience and grit in a pair of intense home games this past weekend, but ultimately fell short in one and claimed a dramatic victory in the other.
On November 23, 2024, the Panthers triumphed over Redeemer University, securing a thrilling 103-98 victory in front of their home crowd. The game was an offensive showdown, with the Panthers' strong shooting performance propelling them to the win. Ty Huxtable led the charge, scoring 21 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, while Thomas Gowland added 25 points. Not to be outdone, Corey Boochoon provided a key spark off the bench, hitting five three-pointers for a total of 17 points. The Panthers' offense shot 50% from the field and 84.2% from the free-throw line, helping them hold off a determined Redeemer squad.
The Panthers' balanced scoring attack proved decisive in their victory, with five players reaching double figures. The game saw several lead changes, but the Panthers pulled away in the final moments with clutch plays down the stretch.
However, the following day, the Panthers faced a tough challenge against the undefeated Humber Hawks.
