Canadore Panthers Battle St. Clair Saints in Hard-Fought Loss
NORTH BAY, ON – The Canadore Panthers gave it their all on the court this past Saturday, but came up short in their home game against the St. Clair Saints, losing 85-71. Despite a strong individual effort and notable moments of resilience, the Panthers couldn't overcome a second-half slump as St. Clair's offense surged.
The game, which was held at Canadore College in North Bay, saw the Panthers fighting to stay close after trailing by just two points at the end of the first quarter (19-21). However, the Panthers struggled with shooting efficiency throughout, finishing the game with a field goal percentage of just 30.9%.
Key Performances for the Panthers:
-
Ty Huxtable led the charge for the Panthers, contributing 15 points on 3-of-15 shooting. His leadership was key, also grabbing 8 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists, playing the entire 40 minutes.
-
Thomas Gowland added a strong 20 points, including 7-of-19 shooting from the field and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. He also grabbed 10 rebounds, continuing his solid all-around play.
-
Corey Boochoon found success from beyond the arc, hitting 3 of 10 three-pointers for a total of 15 points, alongside 2 rebounds.
-
Logan Parker added 3 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists, while playing the majority of the game (25 minutes).
Despite these efforts, the Panthers struggled to convert opportunities in the second and fourth quarters, with St. Clair taking advantage of the team's cold shooting spells.
The Panthers will now look to regroup and focus on upcoming games, hoping to build on the moments of success and improve their shooting efficiency.
