Panthers Triumph Over Algonquin and La Cite to Improve to 8-4

Ottawa, ON – The Canadore Panthers had an impressive road trip this weekend, securing a thrilling 3-2 victory over Algonquin and a dominant 3-0 sweep against La Cite, improving their record to 8-4 on the season.

Canadore vs. Algonquin – January 10, 2025
In a highly competitive matchup, the Panthers came from behind to defeat Algonquin 3-2 (26-24, 25-23, 21-25, 22-25, 15-11) in a dramatic five-set thriller. Khaled Bryant delivered an outstanding performance with 16 points from 10 kills, including a .400 hitting percentage. His efforts were complemented by a strong showing from Sean Malherbe, who added 16 points with 11 kills and a .529 hitting percentage.

Peter Ostranski-Ayles also contributed significantly to the win, racking up 15 points from 7 kills and 10 digs, while Tristan Godmaire provided a solid 28 assists and 8 digs. Despite some challenges in attack efficiency, where the Panthers posted a .283 team hitting percentage, their defense and strong blocking game – 16 blocks total – helped keep them ahead in the tense match. The Panthers' grit and composure under pressure ultimately led them to secure the win in the fifth set.

Canadore vs. La Cite – January 11, 2025
The Panthers continued their strong play the following day, sweeping La Cite 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-14) to further solidify their position in the standings. Peter Ostranski-Ayles was once again a key player, contributing 12 points with 11 kills and a .440 hitting percentage. Khaled Bryant also had a notable performance, adding 10 points from 6 kills, and Tristan Godmaire was crucial to the team's offense, finishing with 8 points from 5 kills.

The Panthers dominated the match with strong offensive play, hitting .256 as a team, while Tristan Godmaire controlled the court with 28 assists, helping distribute the ball efficiently across the team. With solid defense from Nathan Baker and Brayden Blake, the Panthers were able to shut down La Cite's attack, which struggled to find any rhythm.
