North Bay, ON – The Canadore College women's volleyball team delivered impressive performances this weekend, sweeping Centennial College 3-0 on January 25th and edging out George Brown College 3-1 on January 26th, both at home in North Bay.
In the first match, the Canadore Panthers made quick work of Centennial College, claiming a decisive 25-13, 25-13, 25-13 win. With standout performances from multiple players, Canadore was unstoppable, especially in the attacking and defensive departments. The Panthers' offense was led by Kassidy Dyer, who posted 8 kills with a stellar 60% hitting efficiency. Elise Churman added 9 kills, while Sophie Hotte and Kira Fahrbach also made significant contributions, helping the team dominate in every set.
On January 26th, Canadore faced a tougher challenge against George Brown College but came out on top with a 3-1 victory. The match saw an exciting back-and-forth battle, with the Panthers claiming the first, third, and fourth sets (25-13, 20-25, 27-25, 25-17). Despite a strong performance by George Brown in the second set, Canadore's resilience shone through, with Kira Fahrbach leading the attack with 18 kills. Elise Churman contributed 14 kills, and Kassidy Dyer added 10, each playing pivotal roles in securing the victory.
The weekend was a collective team effort, with impressive performances from Reece Sommerfeld (46 assists in the George Brown game) and Delainee Rogers, who contributed both offensively and defensively. The Panthers' blocking game was strong, with Kassidy Dyer contributing 3 blocks against George Brown and Sophie Hotte helping to shore up the defense against Centennial.
