Panthers Earn Split at Home

North Bay, ON – The Canadore College women's volleyball team showcased their grit during a set of matches against Seneca and Loyalist this past weekend.

Saturday's match was an exciting back-and-forth affair, with both teams demonstrating impressive skills. Canadore claimed the first set 25-23, driven by standout performances from Emily Peltier, who delivered 12 kills, and Sophie Hotte, who contributed 8 kills and 16 points overall. The team showed great spirit, particularly in the third set, where they again claimed victory 25-19.

However, Seneca's experience shone through as they regrouped to win the second set 25-12 and ultimately secured the match with 25-21 and 15-11 wins in the fourth and fifth sets, respectively.

Canadore's efforts were bolstered by Kira Fahrbach, who recorded 9 kills and 11 points, alongside Reece Sommerfeld's solid setting with 36 assists.

On Sunday, the Panthers claimed their first win of the season against Loyalist in another five-set thriller.

After a tough start, Canadore rebounded to win the second set 25-22, igniting their momentum. Emily Peltier was a standout performer, leading the team with 15 kills and demonstrating exceptional offensive prowess. The third set was a nail-biter, but Canadore held strong, edging out Loyalist 27-25 to take a 2-1 lead.

Loyalist fought back, taking the fourth set 25-21, but Canadore refused to back down. In a decisive fifth set, the team rallied to secure a 15-10 victory, highlighting their determination and teamwork. 

Key contributions came from Kira Fahrbach, who added 9 kills and 12 points, and Reece Sommerfeld, who orchestrated the offense with 34 assists.
